Blogging from Starbucks

Hi! I’m sitting in Starbucks blogging on my laptop while Thomas plays with his new Android phone(s). We needed to get out of our house and sit on real chairs since our house is empty…and now officially for rent.

Our House - For Rent

This is our living room now – we’re camping out on a futon in the corner. All of the rooms are empty and we’re living out of 3 suitcases and a plastic crate. With all of the furniture out, we’ve been doing lots of scrubbing — and singing. I love how our house echos when empty. :)

Camping in the Empty Living Room

Today, we ran over to the park and dropped off a couple of new Travelbugs in a geocache. I left a VW Bus TB to travel to all 50 states, and a Darth Maul TB to come find me in Belgium. I also have two that I’ll leave in Belgium – one to travel Europe and one to come back to the states.

Signing the Geocache Log

I’ve started filling in my calendar for events once we’re in Belgium. I’ve registered for the American Women’s Club Welcome to Belgium class, and we’re thinking of going to a geocaching event our first week there. I’ve also found a few other groups that sound interesting – Viewfinders Photography Club and the Belgian Patchwork Quilting Association.

Sunflowers

If you came here by way of my old blog, you have seen some of the photos from this set.  But I thought I’d share a couple more.  Thomas gave me these sunflowers a couple weeks ago because I was feeling stressed.  I’m still a little stressed, but at least our house is finally starting to look like we’re moving sometime soon.

I thought I’d also mention my new Flickr site.  Eventually, I’ll move my old photos over, so they’re all together.

You can see the rest of the photos in my photo album:

Ghost of Froggies Past

Grey Tree Frog

Grey Tree Frog

We haven’t had anything living in our frog tank for a few months now.  But today, as I walked through the living room, I noticed something sitting on top of our empty frog tank.  It was this little guy.  Uh, Thomas, I think our frog tank is haunted.  There’s a ghost frog sitting on it.

Actually, it was just a little grey tree frog that snuck in and tried to get squatters rights on the tank.  Thomas poured some water on his hand and released the little guy back outdoors.  This is a little tip I learned from living with a frog-nut.  The oils on your hands can hurt frogs, so if you need to pick one up, cover your hand in water first.  That way your oils won’t pass onto his skin.
