Underwater Retreat

For Pumpkin’s birthday, we got a membership to the California Academy of Sciences. We live just a few blocks from it, so it’s easy to stop by for a quick visit. It’s a great place with live penguins, a 3-story rainforest with butterflies in the open, and a huge aquarium. The latter is my favorite part; I could hide under there for hours and watch the fish swim around.

Bear Bottom

If your dress is going to get stuck in the waistband of your tights, this is the way to go… :)

Friends Always Need Matching Outfits

At playgroup the other day, Pumpkin’s little friend was wearing a dress that Pumpkin also has. Of course, I had to change her outfit so she could match her buddy. Could you imagine twins? :) These two are actually a month apart, but when we have them out together, the other mom and I are often asked if they’re twins.

Troublemaker

One-year-olds seem to get into a lot of trouble. We’ve caught her unrolling the toilet paper in the bathrooms several times, and now the doors are always kept shut. We recently put baby locks on the cabinets because she’s discovered how to open them, frequently taking inventory of all the travel shampoos and soaps we’ve collected. And we always have to check the laundry basket and diaper pail for deposited toys. She’s also been told to not play with our shoes, dance on the fireplace step, spit, stand in the wagon, or pull trash out of the recycle bin. But when we say “No”, she just looks us straight in the eye with her cheeky grin, repeats “no-no,” and continues on her merry way.

Call On Me

Even though she has a couple of brightly-colored, music playing toy phones, Mama’s and Papa’s phones are still the best. But if they’re put away, she’ll grab anything – a lego, a cup, even her empty fist – and hold it up to her ear when she hears a phone ring.
