I hope you’re not totally sick of Morocco photos yet, I have just one more day to post about after this. This was my favorite part of Morocco, the Todres Gorges – the area was beautiful. I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon, but this is how I imagine it – steep, red rock cliffs.  Our guide gave us lots of time to explore and hike the dry river bed.

We stayed in a quiet little town in the valley between the cliffs. It was really nice, because it wasn’t a tourist town, and Thomas and I were able to wander around without people hounding us to buy something – we were pretty much ignored. We arrived in the afternoon and women were visiting in the street while their children played nearby. My favorite part was seeing the goats that the hotel’s neighbor kept on his roof.

There was just a sliver of a moon that night, but it matched the moon on top of the minaret.  These are the towers attached to the Islamic mosques.  They’re often the highest point in the nearby area, and where the daily 5-prayers are called from.  The sunset over the cliffs was really nice too. You can’t tell from the photo, but we could see as many stars as we could in the dunes a couple days before.
