One of the best parts of living in Belgium is that it is in the middle of everything.  It’s an hour to London, 1.5 hours to Paris, and 2.5 hours to Amsterdam.  We decided to check out Amsterdam while Georgy was in town.  I love Amsterdam; it feels so different from Belgium.  It’s crowded and busy, packed tight with canals and bicycles, but the overall feeling is very mellow.  

We had one goal for our trip – to see the Anne Frank House, and other than that, we just wandered.  We walked through the Flower District, the Shopping District, the Begijnhof, and the Jewish Destrict.  We spent a good amount of time in cafes with hot chocolate and pancakes to warm up.  It was a cold and rainy day most of the time we were there.

I’ve now been to Amsterdam 3 times, so this time I challenged myself, photographically, by taking only my 35mm lens.  I have a harder time with this lens since I’m zoom-crazy.  Here are some of my favorite shots I took:
