Snow Day

Today, I woke up to a view like this. This is the same view I posted a couple days ago from our balcony…but now with snow.  I didn’t know it snowed here.

I wanted to make sure I got out today, so I dressed up extra warm and headed out. It really wasn’t bad as long as I kept moving. I’m not used to walking in snow though and the back side of my jeans soaked up the slush. I walked about 2.6mi then caught the metro and the tram back home. I went looking for a big cemetery by the University, but there was a funeral going on so I didn’t go in. The area around there reminded me of the main drags along UNC and Indiana Univ – lots of students, cheap places to eat, and bars.

My first day day with Thomas at work went just fine. I slept in a bit, but I think I needed it. I’ve been congested and sniffley since I got here. After my walk, I made myself a tuna fish sandwich on a baguette, and then I shot some videos of our apartment. I’ll try to get those uploaded to YouTube tonight.

If you’d like to see a couple more photos from today’s walk, I’ve posted them on Flickr:

Wow, I can’t believe it is the same view. I am so envious! Sounds like you and Thomas are in for a wonderful adventure while you are there, I can’t wait to read all about it…

I was initially told it never snowed here as well, but I’m ok with it every once in awhile. It reminds me of back home, which happens to be Nebr where it snows quite frequently in the Winter. Though, I’m assuming Atlanta is quite the opposite!

  3. It’s gorgeous, Dallas! I am so uber jealous that you get to live in Belgium. I’m glad to hear that your first day with Thomas at work turned out okay for you!

Snow is so “normal” to me, that I never thought you’d find it strange! As for the jean soak, that does happen. I find that fashion doesn’t matter, I roll up my pants so they’re a few inches off the ground.

Glad to hear you are settling in ok. If it’s any consolation, in my three years here this is the first time I’ve seen so much snow in Brussels.

    Dallas,

I am thoroughly enjoying your web site and the videos were great! We miss you here, but I’m sure the feeling isn’t mutual! LOL!

Bill just came by and was talking about you. I gave him the link to your web site. Hope you don’t mind.

    Take care!
