So I’ve been a Stay at Home Wife (or as I prefer, Lady of the House) for a week now, and let me tell you,  you can seriously get a lot done in a single day.  I have followed the advice you all gave and made myself a list of all the errands I needed to run, and it worked.  Almost the whole list is checked off already.  It’s great to be able to regularly remind myself what needs to be done.

We’re progressing in our plans to move, but each day I switch from feeling ahead of the game to overwhelmed with all that still needs to be done.  I’m more excited now about the plans to move over there – I’ve collected all of the documents I need, the relocation folks are finding us temporary housing in Brussels, and at least two weeks in January are already filled with Welcome to Belgium classes and house hunting.  Now we just need to finalize our plane tickets to fly over.

The part that has me a little worried is getting our stuff here in order.  Now is not the time to rent or sell a house, and I’m concerned that we’re going to run into some hurdles with that.  We’re trying to get information on what all we need to do to prepare our house, and are still downsizing our belongings.  I’ve started listing some of my fabrics on Ebay, if you’re interested, and I still have more left-over vintage sheets to list too.  I’m hoping to get a giveaway posted soon.

We’ve sold most of our big items – our dining room set and bedroom set.  We still are waiting on our desks, a bookcase, the kayaks, and… the bus.  I never thought I’d get rid of it, but Thomas and I have been thinking alot about not storing it.  There’s a bunch of reasons why, but I think our main one is that we realized that we’d probably prefer camping in a Vanagon (1980′s) or Eurovan (1990′s) camping model, especially once we have kids.  There’s still a lot of little details I’m rolling around in my head though, to make sure this isn’t something I would regret.  In the meantime, I think we’ll need to spend the night in our bus one more time, even if it’s just parked in our driveway.
