Happy November 1st! Are any of you participating in NaBloPoMo – a blog entry each day of November? I thought I’d give it a try, but with how much is going on right now in our house, it might end up being just a photo on some days.
Anyway, this is what I packed last weekend. My mom used to have a sign that said, “she who dies with the most fabric wins.” I keep thinking of it when I look at this. I was going to attempt to cut down my fabric stash before moving, but Thomas’ mom said that I might not find the selection over there, that I have here. Sounds like a good excuse to me to keep it. Luckily, my favorite online fabric shop, FatQuarterShop.com, does ship overseas. But, I think this stash will last me a while.
I also have a few vintage sheets that I’ve found in thrift stores and have been planning to make two quilts out of it — in my free time. :) I know, I’ll have plenty of craft time in just a couple months. Anyway, I was checking out some new craft blogs this last week and stumbled on Tallgrass Prairie Studio, who was looking for some new vintage sheets to finish up her quilt. We agreed to do a swap, and this is what she sent me.
If anyone else is in need of some vintage sheet swapping, let me know. I’ve still got a bunch I can trade. And one more time, let’s look at the packed fabric up close. I could spend an afternoon just sorting through it. Hi, I’m Dallas and I have a fabric addiction.

That’s alot of fabric! In your “free” time over there you could open an etsy shop and make a small fortune!

I don’t have any sheets, but it might be fun to go to my thrift shop and see what they have.

Oh dear, another gene passed down from your mother. If I could take a picture of the inside of the beautiful armoire in my bedroom, you’d see 40 years of stored fabric, all of which was bought with terrific intentions of making a craft item or a garment.
All that organisation makes me twitch. Do you know how badly I would love something like that to have in my house?
And how badly my daughter would want to pull everything out? Hehe.

*Drool* I am envious of your fabric collection. You have the best fabrics (: I wish I had some vintage sheets to trade with you…alas I only have vintage tablecloths.

I’m not doing NaBloPoMo, but I support your efforts! :o)
Can I just say *DROOL* about all your fabric? I don’t do anything crafty at all, really, but I love looking at all the pretty colours and patterns of fabric. If I had more time, I’d love to learn how to quilt and knit…

Due to my husband and all my various craftinesses I try to keep my fabrics to a minimum. I only buy when I think I’ll use it right away. Now don’t get me wrong I still have over 2 tubs full, but compared to my mom, who has a whole basement full and will buy a full bolt if she likes it, I think I don’t have much.
Paper has become my newest addiction and I’m really trying to not just buy it all. :)

Very smart decision!! After 3 years in Belgium I am still finding good fabric shops difficult to come by. Shops with fun modern prints are even more difficult… and don’t even get me started on the lack of sales around here!! I mostly hit up online shops or go into a fabric frenzy when I head home (Canada) for a visit…
