Rainy Walk Along the Hooch

It has rained all weekend — cold, wet rain.  After sitting in the house all day yesterday, Thomas and I decided to get out and stretch our legs with a quick walk along the Chattahoochee River.  I took along my camera, hoping to get a shot for the reborn Exposaroonie challenges.  Unfortuantely, I missed the deadline, but this is my photo of “Lines.”

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  Yes, I know it’s late, but I spent yesterday with friends, so I didn’t get much online time.  We joined a few of our friends for an American, Thai, and Korean style feast.  I made sausage cheddar biscuits, and Thomas made sweet potato casserole…all by himself.  It was delicious.  My favorite dish was rice balls stuffed with shitake mushrooms (saute mushrooms with sesame oil and soy sauce).  Yum!

Bigger, better, tastier, more!

We came home and took a post-turkey nap, and then joined up with Bill and Jane for some boardgames – Turbo Taxis, Blokus, and Scattergories. I think we all had a great time.  Hope you had a great Thanksgiving too.

Don’t forget that I’ve got two fabric giveaways in the works, and I’ll post another one soon. Be sure to check them out here and here. And if you’re interested in more fabric, some of my Ebay auctions are ending soon.

Fabric Giveaway #2

I probably should have waited until after Thanksgiving to post these, but I completely forgot about the holiday.  Whoops, I’ll post a reminder next week.  So this is another fabric giveaway for these 12 fat quarters.

To enter, you just need to leave a comment and introduce me to a new blog you think I’d like.  If you link to this giveaway on your own blog, that will count two extra times – use a trackback or leave a link in the comments.  I’ll draw a winner in one week, Wednesday, December 3rd.

Speaking of links, I’ve added links to the blogs I read at the top of my site – just click Links.  Almost all of the blogs I read fit into just a couple of categories – Travelers who live and travel overseas), Crafters, and Storytellers who weave stories through their words and photos.  Feel free to check them out.  They’re linked to my Google Reader and are directly updated through it.

Good luck and keep your eyes peeled for a couple more fabric giveaways this week.  And don’t forget to enter the one I posted yesterday.

Edit:  This giveaway has ended and comments are closed.

Fat Quarter Giveaway

In honor of listing some of my extra fabric on Ebay, I’m holding a giveaway for these 12 fat quarters.

To enter, you just need to leave a comment and tell me what’s on your Christmas wishlist this year. If you link to this giveaway on your own blog, that will count two extra times – use a trackback or leave a link in the comments.  I’ll draw a winner in one week, Tuesday, December 2nd.

And just to be fair, I’ll share my wishlist.  :)  It’s pretty short this year since we’re moving to Belgium directly after the holiday and can’t carry many extra items with us, but I’ve been thinking about a small pocket-sized point and shoot camera, a monopod, a little book light, and some cute wool socks.

Good luck and keep your eyes peeled for a couple more fabric giveaways this week.

Edit:  This giveaway has ended and comments are closed.

Rainy Afternoon Ramble

So I’ve been a Stay at Home Wife (or as I prefer, Lady of the House) for a week now, and let me tell you,  you can seriously get a lot done in a single day.  I have followed the advice you all gave and made myself a list of all the errands I needed to run, and it worked.  Almost the whole list is checked off already.  It’s great to be able to regularly remind myself what needs to be done.

We’re progressing in our plans to move, but each day I switch from feeling ahead of the game to overwhelmed with all that still needs to be done.  I’m more excited now about the plans to move over there – I’ve collected all of the documents I need, the relocation folks are finding us temporary housing in Brussels, and at least two weeks in January are already filled with Welcome to Belgium classes and house hunting.  Now we just need to finalize our plane tickets to fly over.

Empty Dining Room

The part that has me a little worried is getting our stuff here in order.  Now is not the time to rent or sell a house, and I’m concerned that we’re going to run into some hurdles with that.  We’re trying to get information on what all we need to do to prepare our house, and are still downsizing our belongings.  I’ve started listing some of my fabrics on Ebay, if you’re interested, and I still have more left-over vintage sheets to list too.  I’m hoping to get a giveaway posted soon.

Fabrics listed on Ebay

We’ve sold most of our big items – our dining room set and bedroom set.  We still are waiting on our desks, a bookcase, the kayaks, and… the bus.  I never thought I’d get rid of it, but Thomas and I have been thinking alot about not storing it.  There’s a bunch of reasons why, but I think our main one is that we realized that we’d probably prefer camping in a Vanagon (1980′s) or Eurovan (1990′s) camping model, especially once we have kids.  There’s still a lot of little details I’m rolling around in my head though, to make sure this isn’t something I would regret.  In the meantime, I think we’ll need to spend the night in our bus one more time, even if it’s just parked in our driveway.
