A Game: Where Am I? (Part 3)

Good guesses! Some are close and some are far off, but I was trying to be tricky with those clues.  Feel free to send me an email if you get it but don’t want to give it away. My email address is in my sidebar.

Here’s some more photo clues…

Lisa’s Chaos asked if I was wearing a tanktop or a coat. By the way, I didn’t stand up on these very long.

I volunteered that I’d post what I ate – I tried this dish, one of the local specialties, for the first time. It was pretty good.

Melissa Shea asked for a photo of gas prices. Very clever – this wins for best photo request. (Melissa – you win one of the souvenirs I brought back. If you email me your snail mail address, I’ll send it your way.)

Melissa also asked for a photo of the types of homes there. I thought this one was a cute, but typical one.

I volunteered that I’d take a photo of the view. This one is a big clue since I don’t think there are many of this type of structure around. Anyone recognize it?  Here’s a shot from the outside, and inside.

Any more guesses? I’ll try and post one more day of photo clues and then draw a winner from those who guessed right.

A Game: Where Am I? (Part 2)

Yay, I got a few of my photos downloaded, so here’s a couple of clues. There will be more coming. This is the section where I get to be a little sneaky.  Hehe…

Alissa asked for a street sign and the view from where I was staying. These were pretty easy and taken within my first hour there.

Melissa Shea asked what people were wearing where I was. This one was fun. The people were dressed a little differently than I’m used to.

Lisa’s Chaos asked what kind of animals I saw. There was a pretty wide variety.

And since Lisa shares an interest with me in birds, I’ll mention that I saw about 4 or 5 new types of birds.

Any guesses yet on where I was this past week?  I’ll post more photo clues throughout the week.  Guess as much as you want.  I’ll draw a name at the end from the correct guesses and send them a little souvenir I brought back with me.

Cousins

I’m back!  Did you miss me?  I haven’t forgotten about the Where Was I Game in the last post, but I still have to go through my photos, do laundry, and catch up on sleep, so it might be another day or two.  I had a great time, though.

Cousins Cousins

In the meantime, I wanted to post a couple of photos of my cousin’s kids that we recently hung out with.  The girl is 6, full of energy, and very imaginative.  The boy is 2, very snuggly and quiet.  We had so much fun with them.  Both of them were hams in front of the camera and would pose whenever I pointed it toward them.

I feel relieved that we got along so well.  Recently I’ve been freezing up around kids and feeling like I don’t know how to interact with them.  When I was younger, I babysat all the time and played with the neighborhood kids, but I feel like I lost my groove.  But these two helped me feel comfortable again – we played, chatted, and got along great.

A Game: Where Am I? (Part 1)

Let’s play a game. Next week, I’m going on an adventure and I want you to guess where. Before you guess though, you need some clues…how about photo clues? You can even pick the photos – tell me what you want me to take a photo of.

Here are some ideas with samples – I’ll put these items on the list of photos to take next week, but please give me some other suggestions.  These weren’t very creative.

What do you have on your feet?
March 6
This is a shot I took last year when I was working in the dirt in our front yard.  Would you have guessed from this that I was at home?

What are you eating?
Meatballs, mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce
I took this shot a couple Winters ago when visiting my in-laws and trying the country’s signature dish.  Would you have guessed I was in Sweden?

What’s the view look like?
View from the top
This is the view from the highest point on one of the islands I visited on my honeymoon last year.  Would you have guessed I was in the Galapagos?

So, as you see, these photos weren’t the best clues for what I was doing at those times.  Hopefully a group of photos together will give you enough clues to guess my upcoming adventure.  Be clever and give me some good photo inspiration.

I’ll post the photo clues when I get back so you can guess where I was.  Then I’ll send a little souvenir to one of the correct guessers and my favorite photo clue suggester.  Let the photo clue requesting begin.

(Hey In Real Life friends and family, please don’t give my adventure away, but feel free to throw in a curve-ball clue.)

Weekend Without Thomas

Thomas was out of town this past weekend, so I was able to do whatever I wanted. Woo hoo! Party!  Actually, I do whatever I want anyway — just don’t tell him that. :) The house was quiet and lonely, so in addition to sleeping in and staying up way too late, I made sure to meet up with some friends. I met Anna and Jane for dinner and dessert in Decatur.

Anna, Dallas, and Jane

That photo came out a bit flashtastic, but I like it. It was fun to meet up with them since they’re both just starting down new life paths – exciting times. The only other photo I saved from that outing was a cool car that we saw. I’m not sure what kind or how old it was, but the owner seemed antsy with people coming up and taking photos of it.  Oh well.

Old Car

Sunday, I met up with Catherine in Midtown. We walked around a bit looking for a place that was actually open for lunch. Finally we found a place, but they had a limited menu due to construction. Still, a good time was had. I rode the MARTA (the above ground subway) down to see her. MARTA is known for fussing at people with cameras, but I snapped a few shots anyway from the train and in the station.

Other than that, it rained a lot this weekend. I love the colors of my neighborhood after it rains. It has a soft sea-foamy-green hue and a clean, fresh smell.  This is looking down the street outside my house.

It was the perfect weather to snuggle under the covers and read.  I’m just about done with another Chris Bohjalian book.  Here’s a random fact about me — if Thomas is out of town on a weekend, I will almost always sleep on the living room couch.  Ours isn’t particular comfortable, but the bed just seems too big.

Drizzley Street

That’s about it for my weekend.  Oh yeah, I saw a deer in my backyard this morning.  The deer and the rest of the photos I took but didn’t post are in Flickr:
