Weekend Recap

It was a good weekend. Yesterday, we went to Six Flags over Georgia for Thomas’ company party. He volunteered us to be the photographers, but Thomas is still working on processing the photos. In the meantime, here’s some photos from hanging out with friends recently.

The full sets are on Flickr:

These photos are from Monday Night Dollar Bowling with Jane, Bill, Young, and Moon. I ended up using the second one for my Exposaroonie Challenge picture this week, since my first one was disqualified.

Ball Return

So we arrived at Six Flags yesterday shortly before lunch and met up with Thomas’ company at the lunch pavilion. They had hot dogs and sloppy joes, and gave away a ton of free raffle prizes, even a couple of Wiis. Afterward, we waited in line for the water ride for 90 minutes, and just as we finished the minute-long drenching, the skies opened up and let out a down pour. All rides closed, so we just headed on home, even though we had only ridden one ride.

The Sirineks

Just as we arrived back home, I got a phone call from my Mom. She said that while we were at Six Flags, a teen hopped over a couple of fences and was hit in the head by a ride. He was decapitated. Wow, that’s crazy. And very sad. I’m amazed that we didn’t hear any peep of it around the park – no sirens, no lights, no chatter among the park guests. They really did a good job of keeping it quiet.

These photos are from a party at Bill and Jane’s house.

Thomas feels Anna's Belly

Jane, Anna, and Dallas

Last night, we went to Jane and Bill’s house for a little get together. Anna and Dave, two of our other really good friends stopped by, so we got to catch up with them. Thomas and I got to feel Anna’s belly – the first pregnant belly we’ve ever felt.  Thomas quickly learned that just because Anna said he could touch it once, doesn’t mean he can touch it whenever he wants.

It was a great weekend, and it had been nice to see so many friends recently.  This is going to be a short week for us, as we’ve got a four day weekend coming up.  Have a great week.

Back from My Blog Break

Hurray! My week of No Blogging is over. Did you miss me?

Hydrangea

It was a full week, so it was good to get a break. This week, I hung out with friends two nights. Thomas and I visited the library and got library cards. We created ToDo lists using the Getting Things Done method that Thomas learned in a workshop.  And I worked on a couple projects that I’ve got going in the background.

Squirrel Bath

Tomorrow, we’re going to the Six Flags Theme Park for Thomas’ company event.  I’m not sure I’ll go on any roller coasters.  The last one I went on was at Disney World in high school.  Disney’s just seem safer – maybe because they’re closed in.  Tomorrow night, we’re going to a friend’s party. Sunday, we are teaching the kids at church again – this time how to make butter based on a Doctor’s Seuss book.  I just need to figure out which one. :)

Bird Egg

I didn’t take a break from taking photos this week, so I’ll post some of those this next week. These are a few shots I captured around the yard.  The first is a hydrangea that my Mom gave me.  Then a squirrel that visited our bird feeder.  I think the bird egg was from a mockingbird, but I’m not positive.  Actually, I found it in my work parking lot and carried it home to photograph.  And finally, Clover chilling out on the porch.  Those are some furry paws.

Anything interesting happen in your life this past week?

Taking a Break

I need a break from blogging…just a short break.  I’m going to try to take this week off.  I took down the fabric giveaway post since no one had commented, and Thomas has set up our Internet to limit our hours to just two a day.  Sounds reasonable, but yesterday, I already went over.  Anyway, see you in a week, and in the meantime, enjoy these flower photos.  I’m entering the last one into this week’s Exposaroonie challenge for Vibrant.

Posting Old Photos

I finally finished editing the rest of the photos from Memorial Day Weekend in Raleigh – that’s the hard part of taking so many photos. The post processing takes a while, and if I keep taking more photos, it just adds up. Now it’s hard to write about an event that happened almost a month ago.

Clover in the car
Clover is a horrible car rider. She stresses out – pacing and panting, and whenever we stop, she tries to hide under the steering wheel.

Other than the wedding and family time for Thomas’ side, I got to spend some quality time with my brother. He took Thomas and I out to meet his friends and we wandered Franklin Street – the main drag along my college campus. I was amazed at how much has changed, but I had a great time. I even got up and danced at one of the clubs we went to – that’s unheard of.

Brothers
Thomas and his big brother, Michael – aren’t they sweet?

Throughout that weekend, I kept missing the Raleigh area. I lived there for 8 years – finished high school, went to college, lived life fully in my early 20s, and met Thomas. I’ve now been away for about 5 years, and I was surprised that I’ve finally passed that point of “I’ve got to get away.” I’m okay with not being there now, but I can definately say that it’s home…comfortable.

Grilling
Thomas’ brother-in-law, Jeremy manned the grill

I never blogged about Thomas’ birthday presents. I tried hard to get him something not on his wishlist, but I ran into all kinds of kinks. First, I tried a Google beanbag chair, but he ended up getting it for free with his employee discount. Then, I tried a Wii Fit, but it turns out that our Wii sync button is jammed, so we can’t hook up the Fit. Finally, I got him a birding scope, but I got the wrong model. Luckily, we were able to exchange it for the right one.

Unhappy
I know I shouldn’t take photos of kids when they’re tantruming, but look at that bottom lip sticking out. Hehe..

I still haven’t figured out how to fit in visiting friends and having playtime in addition to visiting both of our families there.  I’d love to visit some of my favorite spots – UNC’s campus, the farmer’s market, the Rose Garden, finish geocaches I never solved, etc.  I’m sure we’ll be there again sometime this year, and hopefully we can make time to catch up with our friends.  Our trips always feel so rushed.

Goofy Uncle Thomas
Baby doll socks make great elf ears.

Overall, it was a wonderful trip, even if it went by too fast.  I’ve posted the rest of the photos on Flickr – they’re mixed in with the shots from this trip that I posted in early June.

More Silhouette Photos

In addition to the shot I got of Thomas, here’s some more silhouette shots I took this week.
