Lazy Birders

At our house, there are some really lazy birders…

This birder took a whole two steps out the front door.

This birder dragged an old cardboard box to the backyard to use as a hide. The kayaks made a great backrest.

And this one? What makes a better cover than the house — just lean out the living room window. Yes, that is our VCR propping the window open.

In related news, I photographed two new birds in our yard – the Yellow-Bellied Sap Sucker and the Northern Flicker. Both had beautiful colors. The Sap Sucker was from the back porch, but the Flicker was from the dining room. You can see a little window reflection in the bottom of the photo.  That’s what we get for being lazy birders.

did the photographer that stayed in the house get some decent shots too? Those bird shots are amazing, so different to any I’ve seen.

Lazy, perhaps, but apparently with you guys it works :-) Great shots!

Hey, if it works it works! Great shots!

Does that mean your VCR doesn’t work anymore? I accidentally dropped mine while moving and never replaced it. Propping open a window with it would be the most use it’s gotten in years. :)

And I meant to say – beautiful bird shots! I love the one with the red forehead and throat. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like that.
