For The Journey Not just the destination…

Earlier this month, Thomas and I went to Young and Moon’s wedding and took a few photos. :)  We met Young and Moon about a year ago through some friends, but they became fast friends. It was a beautiful wedding – spoken in both Korean and English, and afterward, we stuck around to watch the Korean ceremony in their fancy costumes. After we got back from the candlelight service at our church, we took a photo in front of the tree before we changed back in to casual clothes.

This is what the tree looked like on Christmas Eve. I took this with a tripod and a very long exposure.

• Christmas 2007 Photos

This year, I didn’t sew as many gifts or send out as many Christmas cards (see entry photo) as I meant to. But the house is clean, family is here, and I’m enjoying my holiday break. I hope you are too! Merry Christmas!

This winter, there has been a new bird at our feeders. Thomas has been stalking him to get a photo. Today, when I was standing on the front porch trying to photograph another bird, he landed right next to me on the front porch feeder. He looks kind of like a nuthatch, but with a brown head.

We were cleaning house today, so there was lots of procrastination bird-watching out the windows and we noticed two other new birds.

This one has a red eye and tummy, and a black back with white dots. I have no clue what he was, but he was hanging out on the ground in the backyard.

Finally, this one was on our suet feeder in the front. He looks like a warbler, but not one the Yellow Rumped or Pine Warblers that we’ve seen before.

Any ideas on what these little guys are?

P.S.  I’m trying out Adobe Lightroom with these shots rather than Picasa that I normally use.

Let me tell you about last Saturday, because it was a wonderful day. The day began with me waking before Thomas. That is a rarity – it has only happened once before in our relationship. So since I was up before him, I made him breakfast in bed. It wasn’t anything special; I’m not real awake early in the morning. I made him toast with peanut butter, orange slices, and hot chocolate. After eating, we watched the birds out the window and snuggled with Clover – nice to have time to just relax.

After we got up, we headed out to get a Christmas tree. Of course we had to take the bus… :) We went to Pike’s Nursery, picked out our tree, and loaded it up on top. We decided that we needed a photo of the tree on top, so we made a quick detour to the heart of our little town and took some photos in front of the decorated storefronts. Santa even drove by in a horse drawn carriage. The photos didn’t come out as I had hoped, mostly because there were so many other cars around, but Thomas got a great shot of me driving down our street.

That afternoon, we went to a boardgame party, but I have enough pictures from that to be another post. Until then, the rest of the photos from Saturday morning are on Thomas’ Picasa site.
