Day 5 on NaBloPoMo and I’m already hurting for blog entries. Any topic requests? Tonight, I played with colors – on the dining room wall, and with fabric.
In response to my post a couple days ago, my mom suggested looking into a dark red that is in the china plates – I have a table cloth that is just that color, so I tried hanging it on the wall to see what an accent wall that color might look like. I do like the color, but the furniture sort of blends with it.

I also used Flickr in a new way tonight – discussing (virtually) fabrics with Thomas. I posted a photo, and using the notes feature, we discussed which we liked. Click on the photo to view it in Flickr – that way you can see our notes.
I’m thinking of using a few of them for a tote bag like this one by Creative Kismet.

I have a dark red in my dining room- sort like the color of red wine. It looks great but is the worst (stressing worst again) color to paint. Multiple coats.
I love the red colour! But painting the whole room like that might give you the impression that the room becomes smaller though. Maybe combine the red with some yellows or orange colours?
My living room is completely white awaiting redecoration. We have decided to go for beige/cream walls with one wall red. We don’t have much light coming in so we need to have some bright walls, making the red wall stick out and giving some personality to the room.

a muted dark blue would make the furniture pop since it has warm tones in it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog via Fun Monday. I’m also happy to see a fellow Atlantan is doing Fun Monday. I actually love the red (red is my favorite color). My living room has dark hardwood floors, I have chocolate leather furniture and my accents are all red. I’m a renter so I can’t paint my walls, but everyone who has seen my brown and red combo says they love it and that it feels very warm and cozy. (I have pictures in my archives sometime in July if you want to check it out.)
Like Keith mentioned though, I have friends with red walls and they said it was a pain to get it to look right.

As someone who has done red before – red is the hardest color to paint. Often it looks very streaky if you don’t put enough coats on and it takes a LOT of coats. Have you thought about gold colors? You get a lot of the warmth, with it still being fairly light.
Going back to the gold idea – if you look at the cover of the latest Blueprint magazine, I think that color gold would look really good (: Just my opinion.
