Tonight is the start of my 5-day weekend. It began with stopping at the mall for some new work clothes. I usually make it to the mall once or twice a year, and the last time was before my wedding, so I was due.
I felt very lost in the department stores. I think I’m in a tween size, which is more about age groups than it is sizes. I want clothes that are more mature than teen stores carry, but not middle-age women clothes. And I kept coming across stuff that was either too funky or poor quality. I finally went in Ann Taylor and hit their sale racks with some success.
I also got Thomas his Christmas present tonight. No, I’m not going to post what it is, but I think he’ll like it. I’m trying to make a lot of my presents this year, but I haven’t accomplished that much yet. The hard part is not being able to post crafts in my blog as I finish them. Hopefully my swap partner in Singapore will get her package soon and I can post what I sent her. I was pretty happy with how it turned out.
My dad arrives tomorrow to help me with some home projects, so I need to go pick up around the house. Yay, I made it through week one of NaBloPoMo!

Try NY & Co. (if you have one there) for clothes. I love that store. I used to buy all my work clothing there. Do you have an H&M there? That’s a fantastic store, though admittedly a little more funky.
I used to love NY & Co when it was Lerners of NY, but I didn’t see anything in there this time. We just got (or are getting) H&M but when I went in one in Sweden, it seemed like everything they carried was for stick-thin girls. That might be just what they carry over there, but I haven’t bothered to check them out because of it. I guess I’ll have to check one out in the US to see if they’re more flexible on sizes.
H&M sizes are bizarre. A lot of people have problems getting pants there (I don’t), but you shouldn’t have a problem with tops. I really like their style and maybe it would solve your “tween” problem, as it is hip yet professional. :-)
Relatedly, I’ve started dressing like a preppie. I kinda like it. Yesterday I wore brown cords, a blue sweater over a blue and white striped blouse, clunky brown oxfords, my corduroy fall cap and my grey wool peacoat-y thing. And a big black scarf. Prep!
I hit the Ann Taylor sales racks at home in Vermont this weekend as found some awesome buys on pants! 3 pairs of really nice lined dress pants for work only 15 bucks a piece! I would quite happy.
