Front Porch Birding

This weekend, while Thomas was napping, I snuck outside with his birding lens and shot some photos of the birds on the suet feeder.

I was able to stand on the porch and not disturb them, but I had to limit my time outside due to the temperature. It was freezing out there. Still, I took quite a few photos and finally tonight finished narrowing them down to about 30.

Here’s what I ended up with:

Great photos, Sallad. Do you mind if I use one to add to my screen saver pictures?

What kind of lens do you use for photographing birds? I never can get close enough without scaring them off.

    Sure, Dad – Screensaver away.

Derelys – I used a 500 mm lens. I’ll take a photo so you can see what it looks like.
