Bus Fabric

Pink VW Bus FabricOoh, isn’t it cute, and pink, and bussy?

I heard about this new VW Bus fabric from two sources – an email link from Jane and on Whip Up‘s blog.

So many ideas – like backing for the VW Bus quilt I’m going to make some day, or bus curtains, or if I ever get my collection of VW bus t-shirts quilted into a t-shirt quilt.

And it comes in pink or blue. Actually, this designer, Heather Ross, has some other cute patterns in her Lightening Bugs and Other Mysteries line too – like gnomes

Sugar and Spice

I tidied up my cooking cabinet tonight while cleaning in the kitchen, so I thought I’d share a picture. We’re simple cookers, and only require three shelves of cooking stuff. (I couldn’t figure out the right word for the collective of these items. They’re not supplies, or ingredients…additives? supplements?)

The top shelf is baking supplies – flour, sugar, etc. The middle is sweet treats like sprinkles and cocoa. The bottom shelf is spices. Note: Our most frequently used spices are stuck to the side of the refrigerator with magnets.

I added notes to the photo in Flickr of some of the things in the cabinet that stand out to me. You can see which items they are, and a little more detail by clicking on the photo to open the flickr page and then moving the mouse over it, but here’s the list:

  • Swedish pearl sugar
  • Splenda
  • Tiny tabasco sauce
  • Powered sugar shaker
  • Swedish powdered vanilla
  • Red food dye
  • Film container full of parsley

What’s your favorite cooking “stuff” to keep stocked in your kitchen cabinet?

Project 365 – Week 1

Inspired by Catherine, I’m attempting Project 365, where I take at least one photo every day of the year. I was able to complete the first week, so I’ll recap here. I’ll try and do the weekly recaps as long as I stay with the Project. If you want to see all of my Project 365 photos together, I’m posting them in a set on my flickr site. You can click on the photos for descriptions. Sorry about repeats from previous blog entries.

He Loves Me

This weekend, Thomas not only fixed the brakes on my Honda, and changed the oil, but he also bought me fresh flowers at the grocery store for the house. Aww, I feel loved.

Yeah, I’m cheesy.

Craftiness is Back

One of my unofficial New Year’s Resolutions this year is to be craftier – hopefully completing one quilted bag, and one of the quilts I started a while back. And it would be nice to actually have crafts to work on when I go to Craft Night too. I don’t think I’ve touched my sewing machine since finishing Will’s baby quilt last May.

Well, this weekend, I picked up the craftiness. Saturday morning, I sewed a quick birthday gift for my friend, though I can’t post a photo of it yet. Her birthday isn’t until next weekend. I am pleased with how it turned out, and I hope she likes it. I’ll post more about it after she gets it.

The other project I did was make some Thank You note cards. I’m down to a couple of the cheesy, store-bought Thank You cards, so I picked up two stamps and some plain cards and made my own (as seen in the entry photo). They’re simple, but at least they’re handmade. That counts for something, doesn’t it? :) Now, I need to figure out how to clean up the ink pads where one color mixed with the other.
